JAMMU, July 30: Ministry of Energy and New and Renewable Energy, celebrated “Ujjwal Bharat Ujjwal Bhavishya – Power @ 2047” Bijli Mohatsav under “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” (AKAM) from July 25-30, 2022 across the country in all districts to mark the 75th anniversary of India’s independence.
The events showcased to the audience the achievements in the power and renewable energy sectors from both national and UT perspective as well as India’s vision in these sectors for the year 2047 when India will complete 100 years of independence.
The celebrations include cultural activities to convey the importance of development to the general public and showcase the infra-development of power.
Public participation was a key element under ‘Jan Bhagedhari’, where consumers and public representatives joined in the celebrations with great enthusiasm.
In Kashmir, KPDCL organized a district wise function from July 25, 2022 where in the particular district, specific power infrastructure developments were highlighted. The audience participated in these functions with a zest and zeal that can be gauged from the positive and thrilling comments.
In Srinagar, celebrations were held on July 25, 2022 at SP College where UT Lt. Governor of J&K graced the occasion with his presence as chief guest and highlighted the addition of mega infrastructure in the electricity sector at J&K as well as the distinction of J&K’s UT among the first to receive approval under the revamped distribution sector program.
Concluding the series of events to celebrate “UjjwalBharat, Ujjawal Bhavishya, Power @ 2047” by highlighting KPDCL’s achievements in each sector.
J&K UT also celebrated the Grand Finale event today July 30, 2022 in Anantnag district via virtual mode. Anantnag District was one of more than 100 districts across the country participating in the Grand Finals event. Public representatives and senior officers participated in the event in addition to beneficiaries.
The main highlights of the Grand Finals are; The grand finale of Ujjwal Bharat Ujjwal Bhavishya was held on July 30, 2022. It was a nationwide celebration attended by the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, who addressed participants and beneficiaries from over of 100 districts across the country via virtual mode.
The Prime Minister has launched the Ministry of Energy’s revamped distribution sector flagship programme, which aims to improve the operational efficiency and financial viability of distribution companies.
With an expenditure of Rs.3,03,758 crore over a five-year period from FY 2021-22 to FY 2025-26, the program aims to provide financial assistance to DISCOMs for upgrading and strengthening the distribution infrastructure, aimed at improving the reliability and quality of supply to end consumers.
It is also proposed to provide 25 crores of prepaid smart meters to consumers across the country. It is worth mentioning that KPDCL has received approval under loss reduction and metering component for Rs2834Cr under RDSS for the complete overhaul of the electrical infrastructure in the valley with the vision to provide quality power with 24/7 reliability.
The Prime Minister also launched the National Rooftop Solar Portal, which will track the installation process of rooftop solar power plants online, from registration of applications to release of the subsidy to the bank account of residential consumers (“beneficiaries”) after installation and inspection.
